di bawah tilam, di dalam reban ayam

My hardcover books ;-) by cheryna_27
My hardcover books ;-), a photo by cheryna_27 on Flickr.

"Mistake is a single page of life. But, relation is a book of dictionary. So, don't lose a full book for a single page."

"Simpan sini. Dalam kotak," she said while she brought a huge box with her.

I sulked. No. I didn't want to do that. Not again. That was the third time I had to do it. Oh my...

She watched me with a threatening look. I knew I had to do it. So, I took the box and started to empty the shelves.

One book...two books...three books...

"Ada apa-apa sorok lagi tak?" she asked while she took searched beneath my pillows.

A copy of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility was there.
A copy of Judith McNaught's Once and Always was there.
And...a copy of Ahadiat Akashah's Budak Bohsia. Alamak.

"Mana lagi buku-buku semua?" she demanded.

"Mana ada dah," I answered innocently.

She looked unsatisfied. Then she did the unexpected. She flipped my mattress. Nooooooooooo!!!!

"Kan ada lagi ni! Dah agak dah simpan bawak tilam!" She scolded me. They were copies of RL Stine, Fear Street and Sydney Sheldon. Alamak. Alamak. Alamak.

"Sweet Valley High semua mana?" she asked. I knew she was pissed.

"Tuuuu..." I showed her the box. She scowled.

"Bawah tilam tu semua dah habis laaahhh..." my voice was sad.

Those books were my lovers. My treasures. My life! I saw my brother carried the books. Before I could say anything, she closed the door. Clearly, she did not want me to know where she would be hiding the books.

That was the routine. Every time it was approaching the trial of UPSR, PMR or SPM, I had to give away my books. My mother, the teacher, the warden, the...at one point....monster, would take everything away from me. I was only allowed to read newspapers and academic books.

Well, I could not blame her for that, folks. I was not as lucky as students these days. I have been sent to a boarding school which was blessed with straight A students regardless the effort of the lazy teachers (mind you, I loved my primary school teachers a lot but not my secondary school teachers).

When I came back for holidays, I studied by myself since I had to give way to my younger brothers to go to tuition classes. I have never attended one. That was the reason why my mother have been very strict. She was afraid that I read too many books and forgot to study.

But it was not for long. Every time I finished my exams and especially when I managed to get good results (Alhamdulillah for the blessing), I was rewarded with set of dictionaries, Enid Blyton's collection, Beverly Hills 90210 books and Fear Street.

I even received some subsidy money to by Perfect by Judith McNaught when I got my SPM results :)

After she went out of the room, I went outside. My favourite books were there, in a plastic bag. It was hidden in a chicken hut under the rambutan tree. Hehe :)

I saw Laughter and Latte over there! Hahaha... Oh my! Oh my! I love Latte. Hiks. (:

Guess what? I found few old books in my attic. Dirt all around. Funny. I got so mainstream taste. I don't know when since I change my interest for books. =)

oh ya. Cheers!

buku-buku BI aku hanyalah berkaitan dgn sains, fizik dan pengetahuan am. Tak ada novel, tak ada cerita detective seram segala bagai...
tu sebabnya aku kena baca ulang2 entries Sha baru aku boleh faham.... hahaha

buku buku kat rumah akak tu pun banyak. akak ada suruh husband stop beli buku sebab dah tak muat nak simpan dalam kotak.

Tak payah beli buku, pergi je library dan baca buku kat sana.

Ala... Kesian pulak bila semua buku pun dh kena ambik. Mmg ada gaya mcm umi sy. Strategi umi selalunya buat sesuatu senyap2. Alih2 je dah tak ada semua tu. Mmg payah bila dapat anak kuat memberontak. :)

Sebahagian buku yg sha sebut pun mmg ade kt rumah sy... Penuh dan padat mini library kat rumah... Kegilaan mase kecik2 jugak tu. Abah sy la pembawa hobi ni pd anak2 sejak kecik. Melimpah sana sini pelbagai genre buku dan majalah... Yg di beli sebelum kahwin pun masih tersimpan elok.

Sygnya ketegaran dia tak di warisi anak2 sgt. Biasa2 je. :)
